How it Works

Imagination Library provides free, high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from birth to age 5.

If you are a parent or legal guardian of a child under age 5, we invite you to enroll your child at the child's home address (business addresses are not permitted).

Each month, a carefully selected new book will arrive in the mail, allowing your child to build a personal library. If you have more than one child under 5, each child can be enrolled separately and receive their own books!

Is your child eligible?

To be eligible, your child must be:

  • Younger than 5 years of age and

  • Live in one of our 5 zip code service areas: Rockville 20850 and 20851, Gaithersburg 20877, Kensington 20895 or Silver Spring 20903.

Ready to get started?

At this time we are NOT accepting new enrollments. Our program is currently at full capacity, but new slots typically open up each month. Please check back early each month to see if we are accepting new enrollments.

Moving?

Please notify us if you are moving. We can assist you in looking to see if your new address offers the program and facilitate a transfer. Send an email that includes your child's first and last name to debbie.pollak@imaginationlibrarymcmd.org.

Here's an example of a book recently mailed:
My Papi Has A Motorcycle written by Isabel Quintero and illustrated by Zeke Peña.

This book begins with the love of the father-daughter relationship. Daisy Ramona sees the vibrancy of her neighborhood as she zooms around town with her dad on his motorcycle. She sees people and places that she has known for years, as well as all the changes taking place in her community.
